35 per hour Hours of Work:
3 days weekly for a total of 15 hours GENERAL DEFINITION OF WORK:
Performs responsible skilled and technical work providing general maintenance and coordinating repairs to police vehicles; does related work as required.
Work is performed under the regular supervision, as designated by the Chief of Police.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS/TYPICAL TASKS:
Overseeing and coordinating the care and maintenance of police fleet; performing minor maintenance; preparing and maintaining records.

The omission of specific duties does not exclude them from the position if the work is similar, related, or a logical assignment to the position.
) Checks all police vehicles daily, replenishes oil, water and other fluids; ensures vehicle equipment shut off when not in use.
Delivers vehicles to service yard for service, maintenance and/or repair; arranges for towing if necessary.
Secures estimates for repair to wrecked vehicles; forwards to risk management office for processing.
Receives authorization to proceed with repairs, ensures the proper repairs are made.
Takes vehicles to dealer for recall work.
Checks new vehicles in when delivered; applies decals.
Removes vehicles from service and prepares them for auction.
Prepares and maintains vehicle files and records.
Coordinates the towing of salvaged vehicles and maintains records.
Inspects police vehicles for damages, equipment, operations, mechanical condition and cleanliness.
Ensures that proper equipment is available to each unit and in proper working condition.
Runs errands, picks up and delivers items, supplies and equipment.
Performs related tasks as required.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
General knowledge of the method, tools and equipment used in the maintenance of light automotive vehicles; general knowledge and skill in the use and operation of shop tools and machinery; general knowledge of the rules and regulations relating to fleet control; general knowledge of the geography, street layout and arrangement of the City and the location of the major buildings, facilities and suppliers; ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions; ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with vendors, associates and the general public.
EDUCATION AND
Experience:
Any combination of education and experience equivalent to graduation from high school and some experience in general equipment maintenance and/or mechanical work.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
This is light work requiring the exertion of 20 pounds of force occasionally, up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and up to a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects; work requires stooping, crouching, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, and grasping; vocal communication is required for expressing or exchanging ideas by means of the spoken word; hearing is required to perceive information at normal spoken word levels; visual acuity is required for color perception, visual inspection involving small defects and/or small parts, use of measuring devices, operation of motor vehicles or equipment, determining the accuracy and thoroughness of work, and observing general surroundings and activities; the worker is subject to inside and outside environmental conditions.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:
Possession of an appropriate driver's license valid in the State of Ohio.
